Verena Maria Mai presented UNIspotter – an App helping students to find their dream studies, released in November 2015 in Austria. The free App helps future students to identify suitable study programs (out of over 2000 in Austria) and provides a comprehensive picture of it. Over 250.000 times study programs have been screened by its Users since the release.
The App has a “Tinder-like” interface, Instagram Hashtags, the network of Facebook Friends & more. Why? Because the App shouldn’t only be useful & informative - but FUN to use!
The presentation includes a Demo of the App and and surprising insights into why, how and by whom it is used.
The shift in user behavior of the youth concerning new media & higher education is also discussed:
• How students search for and decide for a university has grown more complex - the search process and the consulted channels have multiplied;
• How, where and what do youngsters search when deciding for a study program - a study among 86 future students, insights and analysis from ThinkWithGoogle, Nieslen & Gartner are presented.
