Nowadays career services undergo significant changes, namely related to the rapid development of modern information and communication technologies (ICT) that posit the trend of young people increasingly seek the necessary information by themselves, on the Internet. This also applies to information related to their career development. Thus, the modernization of the career services requires a process of adaptation by the career centers to the modern reality of young people - namely, mastering the use of new media and social networks. Therefore, the career guidance today is characterized by a gradual shift towards the process of self-guidance.

The above phenomenon changes the means of communication between the counselor and the young man, and now there’s a new requirement arising - career centers need to acquire the capacity to train young people how to use modern media in their career growth.

The modern career consultant needs to assess his/her knowledge in the field of modern media literacy, so he/she could adequately meet the needs of the young customers. Only by doing so, the counselor could train young people to cope independently with the ICT related job-searching process.

This is why, under the QYCGuidance project, the following products have been developed:

• New learning outcomes (LO) and quality indicators (QI) related to nowadays media literacy, including LO and QI related to guidance of youth with fewer opportunities;

• Modern Media Self-assessment Toolkit (tests and games) to measure the counselors' knowledge in the area of self-guidance and media literacy;

• “Self-guidance and modern media literacy” manual with theoretical and practical information on how nowadays youth career consultants should advice youngsters to use modern media in their job search and application.
